Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between City University and Al-Qalamoun Municipality


In line with City University’s commitment to its educational and developmental mission, its dedication to expanding access to higher education for young people in the Al-Qalamoun area, and its leading role in human development, City University, represented by its President, Dr. Walid Dagher, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Al-Qalamoun Municipality, represented by its President, Mr. Rawad Omar Al-Halou.

The signing ceremony was attended, on behalf of City University, by Dr. Saadallah Halimi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities; Dr. Riad Madani, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health; Admiral Hosni Daher, Head of the Maritime Studies Department; and Dr. Iman Baba, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism. Representing Al-Qalamoun Municipality were Mr. Omar Naim Al-Khatib, Chair of the Education Committee, and Mr. Omar Al-Zantout, a member of the committee.

The agreement aims to provide university scholarships for students from Al-Qalamoun, as well as develop joint training programs and workshops that serve the local community. It also provides for the launch of applied development and consultancy projects in the field of sustainable development, along with the organization of student activities, educational visits, and training courses within the municipality’s area. In addition, the two parties will collaborate on cultural, environmental, and health-related activities.

This initiative reaffirms City University’s steadfast commitment to supporting members of the local community and leveraging its academic resources and expertise to promote sustainable development and empower young people in the Al-Qalamoun area.
