City University Shines on the International Stage: Student Ahmad Khazendar Represents the University and IEEE Lebanon Section at International Congress in Poland

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at City University further strengthened its international presence through the participation of student Ahmad Khazendar, representing both the University and the IEEE Lebanon Section at the IEEE Region 8 Student & Young Professional Congress 2026, held in Krakow, Poland.

Last year, Ahmad also represented City University as President of the IEEE Student Branch at the University, when he participated in the IEEE IES SYP Conference held in Tunisia.

During the congress, Ahmad took part in leadership development sessions, professional and business networking activities, and a field visit to an industrial facility, in addition to specialized workshops on entrepreneurship and data analytics. The event also provided him with an opportunity to connect and exchange experiences with IEEE volunteers from across Region 8. Cultural evenings and social gatherings further enriched the experience, promoting cross-cultural and interpersonal exchange among participants and giving the congress a dimension that extended beyond that of a conventional academic or professional event.

In this context, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at City University emphasized that such outstanding international engagements reflect the Faculty’s comprehensive vision of preparing students who excel not only academically, but also actively participate in international forums to develop leadership skills, gain practical experience, and build global professional networks.

At the conclusion of the event, the University administration congratulated Ahmad Khazendar on his distinguished representation. It also expressed its appreciation to the members of the IEEE Student Branch for their efforts and encouragement, and to the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology for its continued support. The University further highlighted the importance of its institutional support and commitment to providing an academic environment that enables students to benefit from international opportunities, pursue excellence, and proudly represent their University and country on the global stage.

The University expressed its hope that the knowledge, experience, and skills gained through such international engagements will contribute to further developing the activities of the IEEE Student Branch and enhancing its contribution to the University community.
