A Promising Environmental Initiative: City University and Tripoli Municipality Explore the Rehabilitation of Al-Manar Median under the Patronage of Karami
As part of efforts to expand green spaces and enhance the environmental and aesthetic landscape of Tripoli, City University President Dr. Walid Dagher held a preparatory meeting on the university campus with the Gardens and Medians Committee of Tripoli Municipality to discuss ways to rehabilitate and develop the median located in the Al-Manar area, under the patronage of MP Faisal Karami.
The meeting was attended by Tripoli Municipality’s agricultural consultant, Eng. Iqbal Oweida; agricultural engineer Wasim Minkara; architect Rachid Shaghouri; and Tripoli Municipal Council member Eng. Samer Khalaf.
Discussions focused on proposed plans and practical steps to develop the median by rehabilitating, landscaping, planting, and greening the area, giving it a more attractive environmental and aesthetic character. The participants also explored implementing the project in phases to ensure that the work is carried out gradually and in a well-planned manner.
As part of the proposed initiative, the university would assume responsibility for maintaining, irrigating, and monitoring the area, helping preserve the green space and ensure its long-term sustainability.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants agreed to continue with the necessary preparatory procedures and steps ahead of the implementation phase. The initiative reflects the shared commitment of both sides to expanding green spaces and enhancing the urban and environmental character of the city of Tripoli.
