Tripoli: Where History, Architecture, and Urban Fabric Unite

In collaboration with the Scientific Committee of the Order of Engineers and Architects North of Tripoli, the Faculty of Architecture and Design at City University organized a seminar titled “Tripoli Unveiled: A Journey through History, Architecture, and Urban Fabric.” The seminar was presented by architect Bassem Zawdeh, an expert in the restoration of heritage buildings, and attended by City University President Dr. Walid Dagher, Dr. Claudia Matar (Chair of the Scientific Committee of the OEA), and Chairperson of FAD, Architect Restorer Rayan Najjar, along with several professors and students.

Chair Rayan Najjar opened the seminar with a warm welcome, praising the presence and support of City University’s President and Dr. Claudia Matar for this cultural initiative. She emphasized the pioneering collaboration between the OEA and City University—a vital step in strengthening the connection between educational institutions and the professional world, thereby empowering students academically and professionally.

Dr. Claudia Matar also highlighted the key role these seminars play in enriching academic education and honing students’ skills. She commended the outstanding participation of City University’s Architecture students in various architectural competitions, workshops, and seminars organized by the Order, reflecting their creative excellence and innovative spirit. These initiatives not only showcase student talents but also bridge the gap between academia and the professional community, opening wide avenues for learning, experience, and confident engagement in the workforce.

In closing, certificates were distributed to participating students, and special recognitions were awarded to Dr. Claudia Matar and Ar. Bassem Zawdeh.
