The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at City University Organizes a Workshop on Building a Digital Identity on LinkedIn with Noura Merhabi
As part of its efforts to support students’ professional skills and enhance their readiness for the job market, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at City University, in collaboration with the IEEE Student Branch and the EdTech Syndicate, organized a workshop led by Mrs. Noura Merhabi. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Hiba Al-Sheikh, and saw wide participation from students.
Mrs. Noura began the workshop by emphasizing the importance of building a strong professional online presence, particularly on LinkedIn. She explained that a digital identity has become a cornerstone in the modern work environment, highlighting that what individuals post online contributes to shaping others’ impressions, making a positive digital reputation essential for professional success.
She outlined practical steps to improve LinkedIn profiles, starting with selecting professional photos and backgrounds, writing a headline that reflects one’s professional identity, and crafting a personal summary that highlights skills and experiences. Mrs. Noura also discussed the importance of carefully managing digital privacy to control who can access personal information.
During the session, Mrs. Noura encouraged students without LinkedIn accounts to create them and guided them step by step in setting up their profiles. She announced that she would review the accounts and provide certified certificates from the EdTech Syndicate to those who completed their profiles and actively participated in the workshop.
The workshop concluded by affirming that LinkedIn is an effective tool for expanding professional networks and unlocking new career opportunities. Mrs. Noura urged students to carefully develop their digital profiles to reflect their ambitions and skills, supporting their success in their professional journeys.
