The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at City University Hosts Mr. Dani Hraiki in a Seminar on Personal Development and Leadership

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at City University, in collaboration with the IEEE Student Branch, organized a distinguished seminar on personal development and leadership, presented by Mr. Dani Hraiki. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Hiba Al-Sheikh, alongside several academics, administrative staff, and a wide participation of students.

Mr. Dani Hraiki began his talk by explaining that leadership is the art of influencing others, emphasizing that everyone has the potential to be a leader within their environment. True leadership, he noted, is based on encouraging and supporting others to give their best voluntarily, through flexible, simple, and friendly communication. He also highlighted the importance of motivation and moral support as effective tools to inspire individuals to perform at their best, steering away from harsh methods adopted by some managers, which contradict the essence of true leadership.

He discussed the fundamental difference between a manager and a leader, pointing out that a true leader does not merely issue orders but works to build bridges of trust and loyalty with their team. In contrast, managers often focus on monitoring mistakes and evaluating performance.

Hraiki emphasized that the personal relationship between a leader and their team members plays a critical role in motivating them, without necessarily relying on material rewards. A true leader inspires their team and fosters a relationship of trust and respect, driving them to work diligently and passionately.

He also spoke about different types of leaders, such as authoritarian, democratic, persuasive, and functional leaders, and touched upon the significance of body language in leadership and its major role in influencing others.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Dr. Hiba Al-Sheikh, Dean of the Faculty, presented a commemorative plaque to Mr. Dani Hraiki as a token of gratitude and appreciation.
