Signing of a Cooperation Protocol Between City University and the International News Agency for Human Rights Under the Patronage of MP Faisal Karami
In a significant step to enhance academic collaboration in the field of human rights, a cooperation protocol was signed between City University and the International News Agency for Human Rights, under the patronage and presence of MP Faisal Karami, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of City University. Karami praised the importance of this agreement, which represents a turning point in promoting awareness of human rights at both local and international levels.
This agreement is a pioneering academic collaboration aimed at spreading a culture of human rights through the development of educational programs and courses focused on this vital field.
Under this protocol, City University, in collaboration with the International News Agency for Human Rights, will launch a range of educational programs and training workshops targeting students and professionals across various disciplines. These initiatives aim to enhance their skills in the field of human rights.
The protocol includes organizing academic courses and lectures addressing global human rights issues, with a particular focus on local dimensions relevant to Lebanese society and the region at large. It also provides training opportunities on handling human rights issues within national and international legislative frameworks, empowering students to exercise and protect their rights.
Additionally, City University will update its curricula to incorporate the latest developments in human rights, as well as organize joint research activities with the International Council for Human Rights to explore emerging issues in this domain.
It is noteworthy that a delegation from the International News Agency for Human Rights, headed by Dr. Haitham Abu Said (High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Head of the International Council for Human Rights Mission to the United Nations in Geneva), visited MP Karami at his residence. Following their meeting, Karami stated, “This agreement comes at a critical time, as human rights issues have become more important than ever on both the international and local stages.” He emphasized that “this partnership between City University and the International Council for Human Rights significantly contributes to preparing a new generation of academics and activists capable of addressing the current challenges in the field of human rights at all levels.”
In conclusion, this protocol is expected to have a significant positive impact on enhancing human rights awareness in Lebanon, contributing to the development of a more informed and sensitive society regarding human rights issues.
