Public Health Students at City University organize an activity for World Diabetes Day Through a “Healthy Food” Event

On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, students from the Faculty of Public Health at City University organized an innovative awareness event titled “Healthy Food.” The activity was attended by University President Dr. Walid Dagher, Dean of the Faculty of Health Dr. Riad Madani, along with members of the administrative and academic staff and students.

The event featured collaboration between the Nursing Department and the Nutrition Department. Nursing students conducted blood glucose screening for students to promote awareness and early detection, while Nutrition students set up a station showcasing healthy food options and encouraging balanced lifestyle habits.

During the event, Dr. Riad Madani emphasized the vital community role played by the Faculty of Public Health in promoting health awareness and strengthening preventive practices. He highlighted the importance of such efforts in reducing premature deaths and addressing chronic illnesses such as diabetes, which represents a significant global health and economic burden. He stressed that prevention is achievable through education and healthy lifestyle choices, urging individuals to maintain a healthy weight, avoid smoking, and engage in regular physical activity.
