Karami During His Sponsorship of City University’s Labor Day Luncheon: Insults on Social Media Do Not Bring Progress and Are Unworthy of Tripoli’s People

The Head of Tayyar Karami and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of City University, MP Faisal Karami, sponsored the university’s Labor Day luncheon held at Baytna Restaurant in Tripoli. The event was attended by Mrs. Janan Karami, deans, department heads, administrators, workers, and employees of City University, in addition to a large group of media representatives — in a gesture of appreciation for their support and recognition of the university family and its pioneering role in education.

The event opened with a welcoming speech by University President Dr. Walid Dagher, who expressed pride in the university’s achievements and praised the dedication and continuous efforts of the academic and administrative staff. He stated:

“The university’s progress would not have been possible without the close oversight and direct involvement of MP Faisal Karami, who follows every detail with a strong commitment to excellence and advancement.”

He added:

“On Labor Day, I truly feel a sense of belonging to this academic home. The university staff are the main driving force behind every development, and they are the foundation upon which we rely to achieve our shared vision.”

He also gave special thanks to Mrs. Janan Karami, commending her tremendous efforts, especially in the areas of media and social communication, where she played a key role in strengthening the university’s presence.

He concluded by saying:

“We march forward with confidence under the leadership of Faisal Karami, the university’s number one supporter. I say to everyone: Thank you, each and every one of you, and Happy Labor Day.”

MP Karami then gave a speech expressing his pride in the progress and development achieved by the university and his appreciation for every individual in this leading educational institution.

He also touched on the latest developments in Tripoli, particularly concerning the upcoming municipal and local elections, calling for unity and prioritizing the public interest. He stressed the importance of avoiding negative rhetoric, stating:

“Insults on social media do not bring progress and are unworthy of the people of Tripoli.”

At the end of the event, University President Dr. Walid Dagher presented a plaque of appreciation to Minister Faisal Karami, and a similar one to Mrs. Janan Karami, as a token of loyalty and gratitude for their continuous support.

The celebration concluded with the cutting of a cake to mark the occasion, in an atmosphere of gratitude, appreciation, and familial unity — qualities that distinguish City University.
