City University’s College of Engineering and IT Hosts Renewable Energy Workshop with Deye

As part of its ongoing commitment to staying at the forefront of energy sector advancements, the College of Engineering and Information Technology at City University, in collaboration with the IEEE Student Club, held a specialized workshop in partnership with Deye Lebanon—a globally recognized leader in renewable energy solutions, particularly in solar energy system installations across Lebanon. The event was attended by the college dean, Dr. Hiba Al-Sheikh, faculty members, and a large group of students.

The workshop opened with a welcoming speech by a student representative from the College of Engineering and IT, who emphasized the importance of collaborating with a company that specializes in innovative renewable energy solutions.

Special thanks were extended to Deye’s technical support team—engineers Qasem Harsha, Ali Faqih, and Rasha Sweid—for their active contributions to the workshop. Their presence on campus was seen as a strong testament to the company’s dedication to supporting academic pathways and its commitment to bridging the gap between the industrial and educational sectors.

The event also highlighted Dr. Hiba Al-Sheikh’s initiative in providing this valuable opportunity to the university, as well as the efforts of the IEEE Student Club in organizing the event.

The workshop focused on two main areas:

  1. An Overview of Renewable Energy – covering key principles and future trends.
  2. Technical Insights into Deye’s Equipment – including solar panels, batteries, and inverters. This section featured hands-on demonstrations on system integration, energy efficiency optimization, best installation practices, and the role of energy storage in enhancing sustainability and system performance.

This experience offered students an invaluable opportunity to engage directly with modern technologies currently used in the energy industry, enriching their academic journey with practical and professional insights.

The workshop concluded with Dean Dr. Al-Sheikh presenting an honorary shield on behalf of the university to Deye, in recognition of their pioneering role in fostering academic-industry collaboration. In return, Deye distributed participation certificates to the students.
