The Scientific Committee of the Order of Engineers in North Lebanon organized the 12th Conference for Graduates of Engineering and Architecture Faculties at the Order’s headquarters in Damm w Farez. The event was attended by the Order’s President, Eng. Shawqi Fatfat, members of the council, directors of universities, deans of engineering faculties, and professors from various institutions. Representing City University were President Dr. Walid Dagher, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology Dr. Hiba Sheikh, and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design Eng. Rayan Najjar.
The conference began with a tour of the graduation projects, followed by the opening ceremony which included the Lebanese national anthem and the anthem of the Order. Dr. Claudia Matar, Head of the Scientific Committee, delivered the opening remarks, followed by a speech by Eng. Shawqi Fatfat. Dr. Safwan Shahhal, Secretary of the Order, also gave an introductory lecture explaining the Order’s regulations and the process of joining it.
Students from various universities across the North took part, including those from City University. Three students from the Faculty of Architecture and Design—Nikola Daoud, Hadeel Fatfat, and Yara Hamza—presented their projects, along with four students from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology: Osama Hallab, Bassam Danawi, Assem Daher, and Sami Mjanini.
The projects were showcased through live presentations and scientific posters, and evaluated by specialized juries who engaged students with in-depth technical and scientific questions. The judging process was impartial and transparent: only the students’ names were presented, without reference to their universities or academic supervisors, ensuring equal opportunities for all participants.
At the close of the conference, results were announced, with City University’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology students winning the top three positions in an impressive academic achievement that reflects the quality of education and the commitment of the university’s faculty to preparing a capable and competitive generation.
