City University Organizes a Conference on International Women’s Day in Collaboration with the International News Agency for Human Rights (INHR) Accredited by the International Council
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, City University organized an important webinar in collaboration with the International News Agency for Human Rights (INHR). The discussions focused on generational equality, with the participation of prominent women’s organizations, distinguished figures, and university students.
The conference began with a welcoming word by the university president, Dr. Walid Dagher, who welcomed the attendees and expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Dr. Haitham Abu Said and all participants in the event. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment in society, highlighting their vital role in achieving justice and equality. He affirmed that women are the driving force behind sustainable development and that enhancing their participation in all fields is essential for achieving justice and equality.
Ambassador Dr. Haitham Abu Said, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Head of the International Council for Human Rights Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, participated in the conference via Zoom. He delivered a valuable speech in which he reaffirmed his full support for efforts aimed at promoting women’s rights and intergenerational equality.
The conference featured a rich panel discussion titled “Generational Equality”, focusing on accelerating change toward a more just future. The panel included distinguished speakers such as Dr. Saadallah Halimi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences at City University; Cathy Athanasiadis, Coordinator of the Women’s Committee at the International Council for Human Rights (IHRC); Dr. Tarek Sanjakdar, a researcher and coordinator of the National Action Plan for Human Rights in Lebanon; and Micheline Mazhar, a member of the Women’s Committee at the International Council for Human Rights (IHRC).
Held at the City University campus in Tripoli, the panel witnessed in-depth discussions on gender equality and human rights, receiving positive engagement from attendees. Additionally, the session was successfully organized as a webinar, coordinated between Tripoli, Beirut, and Switzerland, under the sponsorship of the International Council for Human Rights (IHRC).
At the conclusion of the conference, certificates of participation were distributed to all attendees in recognition of their valuable contributions to the success of this event.
