City University offers a unique opportunity to learn about artificial intelligence and architecture with AI expert Prof. Neil Leach

The Faculty of Architecture and Design at City University organized a seminar titled Introduction to Artificial Intelligence for Architects with distinguished speaker Professor Neil Leach.

Professor Leach has had a distinguished career directing the Design Doctorate Program at Florida International University and teaching at world renowned institutions such as Harvard Graduate School of Design, Columbia University Graduate School of Design, Cornell University, Catalonia Institute for Advanced Architecture, Southern California Institute of Architecture, founder of DigitalFUTURES, and a former NASA researcher.

His pioneering insights have been published in more than 40 books on architectural theory and digital design, including the groundbreaking work Architecture in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (Bloomsbury, 2022).

Moderated by Architecture and Design department head and designer Rayan Najjar, Professor Leach opened the lecture by defining artificial intelligence, discussing its evolution, and exploring its potential to influence the future.

Professor Leach emphasized the need to view AI as a powerful tool that can be used for good. He noted that the technology has the potential to improve people’s lives in many ways, from designing more efficient and sustainable buildings to improving urban planning.
The lecture concluded by emphasizing that we are on the verge of facing a radically different form of intelligence – alien intelligence – that far surpasses human intelligence and radically transforms the entire field of architecture.
The seminar ended with an important Q&A session, where professors of the Department of Architecture and Design, students, and Dr. Leach shared concerns and ideas, all of which revolved around the intersection of architecture and technology.

In conclusion, a trophy was presented as a token of appreciation and thanks to the lecturer for his valuable contribution to this seminar.
