Awareness Seminar at City University: Dr. Abdel Fattah Al-Khair Highlights the Life-Saving Value of Early Cervical Cancer Screening
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote medical literacy and strengthen public health awareness, City University, in collaboration with the Islamic Charitable Hospital, organized an educational seminar addressing women’s cancers, with particular emphasis on the importance of early detection of cervical cancer.
The session was delivered by Dr. Abdel Fattah Al-Khair, a specialist in hematology and oncology at the Islamic Hospital. He stressed that early screening for cervical cancer “saves lives.” Marking the global awareness month dedicated to this disease, he explained that effective prevention begins with routine checkups and imaging tests conducted before any symptoms appear. Detecting the disease at an early stage significantly improves treatment outcomes and offers the highest chances of recovery.
Dr. Al-Khair also reviewed the major types of cancer that require consistent screening, including cervical cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and prostate cancer in men.
He concluded by emphasizing that awareness and personal responsibility remain the first line of defense. Adopting a healthy lifestyle and committing to regular screenings, he noted, greatly enhance prevention efforts—ultimately benefiting not only women’s health but society as a whole.
