An Inspiring Success Journey: The Faculty of Business Administration at City University Hosts Engineer Edgar Barber

The lecture was titled “How a Small Project Became an Inspiring Success Story”, delivered by Engineer Edgar Barber. The event was attended by university academic instructor Ms. Najat Minkara, alongside several academics, administrators, and a large group of students.

Engineer Barber shared his entrepreneurial journey, recounting how he studied civil engineering to help develop the family business. During his first year at university, he launched an initiative with a classmate to spotlight the underrepresented Akkar region, particularly in light of the waste dump crisis. They created a Facebook page titled “Akkar Is Not a Dump”, aimed at showcasing the natural beauty of the region. The page gained significant public engagement.

As interest in the content grew, the page gradually evolved into a marketing platform for local businesses. Despite limited resources, the founders’ determination and ambition led to the project’s expansion—now encompassing over 400 advertising billboards, with offices established in Tripoli and Saudi Arabia.

During the lecture, he emphasized the importance of planning and wise management, stating: “It’s not about how much money you have, but how smartly you use it.”
He also highlighted the value of maintaining strong, ongoing communication with clients and building genuine partnerships, urging students to adopt strategic thinking in marketing.

The lecture sparked great interest among students, who asked questions about the challenges he faced, marketing strategies, and how to launch innovative projects with modest means.

Engineer Barber concluded his talk with an inspiring message: “Success is not inherited; it is built. Every stage in life holds an opportunity—we just need to seize it wisely.”

At the end of the event, Ms. Minkara presented a trophy on behalf of the university to Engineer Edgar Barber, in recognition of his inspiring career and his role in encouraging innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among students.
